The Kutztown Folk Festival is the most well-known of its kind because of a combination of home-cooked cuisine, artisan goods, and cultural support. With over 100,000 attendees each year, it is both the largest and the oldest folk festival in the country.
The Kutztown Folk Festival, which first took place in 1950, is the country’s first folk festival. The event got its start as a special practical destination that let “outsiders” understand firsthand what it’s like to be a Pennsylvania Dutch family member. The customs of one of the two ethnic groups that reconstructed their complete civilization in America are only revealed to visitors from around the world who travel to Kutztown, Pennsylvania.

The Kutztown Folk Festival is the nation’s first and oldest continuously running celebration of folk culture. Visitors from all over the world come to this week-long festival to have fun with their families and gain an appreciation of Pennsylvania Dutch customs and their wonderful way of life.
Over 200 nationally renowned folk artists and traditional American craftsmen, more than 2,500 locally made quilts for exhibition and sale, antiques and collectibles, 5 stages of entertainment, music, and dance, and a wide range of kid-friendly activities are all featured at the Kutztown Folk Festival.
The farming community was the first thing we saw as we entered the event. In the past and in the present, there have been numerous farming tractors. It was fascinating to observe how progress and innovation have improved the agricultural sector. Early farmers put forth a great deal of labor to get their fields ready for planting. Even while farming is still considered to be a demanding job, the development of agricultural technology that is now available has made it less challenging.
As we strolled through the festival, we came across hundreds of vendors and artisans selling a wide variety of exquisite handcrafted goods, including crafts, jewelry, and cuisine that you could sample, purchase, or make for yourself.
There are numerous kid-friendly activities at the Kutztown Folk Festival for kids of all ages. The Children’s Farmyard Theater offers puppet shows, sing-alongs, story time, magic, a ventriloquist, and other events. The play areas and craft stations are great for kids.
The Children’s Petting Zoo, where both kids and adults may feed and care for our magnificent animals, is one of the most well-liked attractions. A grass maze is used to represent traditional games as well.
More useful activities for your kids, like puppet making, music with more singing, and barn star drawing, have been added to the festival.
